Delivering the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030: Resilience in Action
Disaster risk is accumulating at a significant rate due to population growth, environmental degradation, urbanization and other factors. Weather and climate are major drivers of disaster risk and the world is paying a high price. Climate change impacts will in turn affect poverty, agriculture and food security, health, social development, economic growth, demographics and migration, and environmental services (such as water). Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015 – 2030 offers an opportunity to accelerate action for resilience and risk reduction. This event is designed collectively by UN Agencies to illustrate how, in practice, governments are working with the cooperation of partners to build climate resilience and reduce the impact of disasters.
