International Aviation and Climate Change

All participants to the Paris Climate Change Conference are invited to this ICAO Side Event. It will highlight ICAO’s expectations for COP21 and will provide concrete insights into ICAO’s successful strategy and initiatives to assist the development and implementation of Member States’ Action Plans to reduce aviation CO2 emissions, in cooperation with Governments, other UN bodies and the aviation industry.

  • 18:40 ~  Introductory speech by Dr. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, President of the Council of ICAO
  • 18:45 ~ Remarks by Mr. Alain Vidalies, Secretary of State for Transport, France


Followed by a panel discussion on ICAO’s States’ Action Plans and capacity-building, moderated by Ms. Jane Hupe, ICAO. The members of the panel are:


  • Althea Roper, Manager, Aviation Statistics, Airfares and Rates, Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA)
  • Mercy Awori, Representative of Kenya on the Council of ICAO
  • Michael Gill, Executive Director, Air Transport Action Group (ATAG)
