UNFCCC Technology Executive Committee Reports on Technology Needs Assessments

23 November 2015: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published the ‘Guidance on enhanced implementation of the results of technology needs assessments: interim report by the Technology Executive Committee’ (FCCC/SB/2015/INF.3). The report contains recommended improvements to the existing guidance on technology needs assessment (TNA), technology action plans (TAPs) and project ideas for the enhanced implementation of priority technologies for development and climate change mitigation and adaptation.

23 November 2015: The UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) has released a report, titled ‘The Human Cost of Weather-Related Disasters 1995-2015,’ which finds that 90% of disasters around the world are caused by weather extremes, such as floods, storms heatwaves or droughts.

IRENA Report Examines Renewable Energy’s Role in Curbing Climate Change

UNISDR Asia Partnership Meeting Advances Work on Disaster Risk Reduction

20 November 2015: Participants at the 2nd Asia Partnership Meeting of the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) have developed a draft regional plan for the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 in Asia. The draft plan will be submitted to the 2016 Asia Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) for further discussion and adoption.
